Berlin has two airports with excellent and cheap connections nationally and internationally: Tegel TXL and Schönefeld SXF. The airport code to search for all Berlin airports is BER. Kayak is a meta-engine of budget travel sites. If you register you can do searches with variable dates (+/- 3 days) on a range of discount sites and individual airlines simultaneously. Good air and local travel information for Berlin is here.
Insurance (required)
Check your overseas medical insurance coverage and ask your medical insurance company if your policy applies overseas, and if it covers emergency expenses such as medical evacuation. If it does not, supplemental insurance will be needed. Check with the airline you book your flight with or google "travel international health insurance" to find a source. RESIDENCY AT TANZFABRIK
Classes, presentations and lectures are all held at Tanzfabrik Berlin combines both artistic and educational work under one roof. Four studios and an incorporated studio stage, offer space for rehearsals, production, research, workshops, and training. Tanzfabrik's aim is the development and presentation of contemporary dance in its diversity of choreographic and performative approaches, the promotion of young artists, the connection of theory and practice and international exchange. The studio stage focuses on the visualisation of artistic processes and presents regular events. >> Visit the Tanzfabrik website here. Studio and production spaces for workshops and a Macintosh service station with scanner and printer housed at the Kunstfabrik, fulfill the institute's summer residency needs. BERLIN STUDIO + ACCOMMODATIONS
We strongly recommend students stay at the Transit Hotel where most students and faculty will be staying. It is a short walk to the residency and many informal meetings and discussions take place there before and after the daily program. It is a mistake to stay more than fifteen minutes away given the compressed format of the residency.
Students are responsible for making their own arrangements. Please address all questions about accommodation to your hotel or hostel and not to the institute. Info and availability subject to change.
