Bio: Paul Reader is a researcher, who has lectured casually in Professional Development and Leadership, at the University of New England, Australia since 2003. His former postgraduate students have worked in diverse industries, including health and defence force trainers and educators. His doctoral thesis (2007) Painterly Methodology: painting and digital inquiry in adult learning explores the application of painterly and visual methods in research, with a strong emphasis on the relationship between consciousness, theory and inquiry through visual practice.
His community development practice extends over a 20 year + period, with client organisations in the community arts, environment and adult education. His partnership Art & Learning Networks first entered online learning in 1999, when ALN developed an online drawing course for home-educators in Australia and North America. ALN coordinated the Community Technology Centre Program in New England/North West Region for the NSW Office of Information Technology in 2001-2003. Since 1999 he has also managed the Australian Contemporary Arts Mailing List (ACAM) which originated at Monash University. His career began in British art festivals and contemporary arts of the 1970s.
