Bio:
Janice Perry has toured the USA and Western Europe with original solo performances (theater/satire/social criticism) since 1982. Perry’s performances have been adapted for radio and television (PBS, BBC 2, Channel 4, NPR), and published in newspapers, magazines and anthologies (MS; The Utne Reader; The International Herald Tribune; Revolutionary Laughter; Crème de la Femme; In Stitches; The Best Contemporary Women’s Humor).
Teaching and artist residencies include the Institutes for English and American studies at J.W. Goethe University in Frankfurt, and the Julius Maximilians University in Wuerzburg, Germany; the University of Port Elizabeth and New Brighton Township, South Africa; Middlebury College, Vermont, UKS Lawrence; The University of Vermont and The School for International Training’s programs in Amsterdam, Netherlands (Sexuality, Gender and Identity/Social Justice) and Toulouse, France (Culture Studies).
Perry is a Fulbright Senior Specialist, and has received grants for lectureships (2001-2005). She received a Fulbright Scholar award (2004-2005) for her interdisciplinary work in performance as identity construction and creative writing in Wuerzburg. She’s also received several grants from the Vermont Arts Council with support from the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as other grants supporting her stage and teaching work.
