'Garbage architects Denis Oudendijk and Jan Korbes provide a second life for found or thrown-away objects. They operate on the borders of architecture, engineering, and design and create new products from old materials. Origin for designs are found in the material itself, by listening to its own composition, history, or local and social context.
In this way recovered harbour poles from Scheveningen -after being Amazonas‘ giant trees and 50 years duty in harbour waters- turn into furniture and other modules. Or survival capsules from scandinavian drilling rigs -no longer complying to recent safety regulations- become a floating hotel in dutch waters.
Besides they research give workshops on waste material streams and creative recycling in various countries.'
