ORIENTATION

Open office hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2PM-5PM EST.


2. Bookmarks

Please begin by bookmarking this page: “Students”. You can get everywhere you need to from this page.

Additionally we recommend you bookmark the “Academic Calendar” and “Summer Schedule”.


3. Moodle

Next, connect to the Transart community through Moodle, our virtual space. Begin by logging in at www.transart.org/moodle (top right). Username and password will be emailed to you after confirmation of payment so you can sign up online for your courses. You can change your password once you are logged in. Then to update your profile click on your name (top right). Click on the "Edit profile" tab (top left). Add a photo of yourself, your bio and website. A Moodle user session will be held at the residency but feel free to set up your account right away. If you prefer to wait for this orientation, you can email your pre-residency assignments to: admin@transart.org.


4. Course and faculty sign-up

Course sign up begins June 2, at 20:00 CEST on a first come basis. Here is a link to summer courses and sign ups. You will find syllabi and readings here as well. You will choose one course for each week and a space on a waiting list if your first choice is taken. Please note that you will automatically be switched to this course if you are next on the list for the course if a space becomes available. You will be responsible for the readings for this course as well.

You can find your place in the “calendar” with the code 1YS for first year student.

You will upload your assignments (give assignment titles plus your last name. example: Name_Reading_Diary.PDF) to your “Moodle” blog. Click on "Blog" tab (top). Upload by choosing a file or paste text directly into window. Save changes. Guidelines for the reading diary, proposals and all other assignments can be found through the “Students” page you bookmarked at the beginning of this orientation session.


Presentations should to be prepared in advance. You will find >> guidelines for these as well:

Introduction (2 min): Introduce yourself and your practice the first day to all.

Presentation (10 min + 20 min discussion): Present your practice and project plans to a group of faculty and students.

Presentation (30 min. open format): Present work related to your project plan plans to you critique group.
